Valibor Rozé

Dry ros

This wine was a blend of Pinot Noir, Kékfrankos and Syrah and was dominated by red fruits strawberries and red apple. There was a good level of minerality which in this wine was nicely balanced with the fruit. The Syrah makes this a little more of a serious ros , with more complexity. It was a little floral on the nose.

Valibor Syrah

Dry red

The wine was a very delicate Syrah, not the heavy oaky expression many will be used to. It showed great versatility of the grape. It was fruity and light bodied. Light oaking and tannins really balanced this wine out. I noticed some herbaceous flavours on the nose, but not so strongly on the palette. This had a good finish and was not overwhelmed by oaking.

Valibor Szürkebarát (Pinot Gris)

Dry white

This is a more complex wine. This is made in a style I would compare to a Szamorodni. This had nutty, unripe apple, dried fruit and marzipan notes with some stone fruit and mildly tropical flavours. This had a decent finish.

Red fruit dominated, medium high acidity, but complex flavours of minerality, tertiary flavours that are subtle, but developing and just enough tannin to hold it all together.

This was a dry white wine in a simple style. Flavours of apple, hints on stone fruit and lemon / gooseberry. This was very fruit forward and had some minerality on the palette.

Valibor Ottonel Muskotály

Dry White, almost off dry

The wine had a sweet floral smell. The minerality was more pronounced on the palette. Pear, peach, and apple were the most prominent flavours. This was a very easy drinking wine. The slightly sweeter style than the Valibor one was a nice contrast of the versatility with which this wine can be made.

Fata Rozé

Dry Rosé

This was my kind of ros ! The dominant flavours were of red apple, with subtle oxidation which gave it a bruised apple flavour. I would say it was not a typical ros and wasn t as dominated by red fruits, which I quite liked. The minerality worked well here, and I think this wine would pair very well with food.

Medium bodied, bruised apple, nutty and almondy on the nose. Some nice tertiary flavours mixed with stone fruit, passion fruit and lychee. Has hints of an orange wine skin contact. Minerality on the finish and very astringent. Beautiful with the age. Marzipan coming through as well.

Unfiltered and therefore a little more body than you would expect in a wine from this region. Fruits are towards the lighter end of red fruit range – strwaberry, cherry, raspberry. The tannins are well balanced, but a little rough.

A nice cuvée made in the traditional Swabish style. The blend is well balanced and a mix of orchard and cirtus fruits – apple, lemon, pear, a little peach. The wine is well executed with good bite from acidity which makes it refreshing on the palette.

A nice blend of Tempranillo, Cabernet Franc and Merlot which showcases the best characteristics of all three grapes. Strong red fruit flavours with slightly jammy notes, turning to darker blackberry on the palette. Some nice baking spice notes and tannins which provide body and balance.

Stier Cabinet Sauvignon 2017

Dry red

Red and dark fruits in broadly equal measure, along with notes of chocolate, smoke, oak and vanilla. The finish is very good and the wine has a good balance. A great example of the variety.
